This Cookie Policy explains how worksitetested.com (“the Site,” “we”) uses cookies and similar technologies. It supplements our Privacy Policy.
What Cookies Are
Cookies are small text files that a site asks your browser to store. They let the site recognize your device on subsequent visits — useful for remembering preferences, keeping you signed in on sites that have accounts, or counting returning visitors for analytics.
“Similar technologies” includes browser localStorage, sessionStorage, and server-side pixels. Everything on this page applies to all of these.
The Cookies This Site Actually Uses
We don’t run accounts, carts, or checkouts, so our cookie use is narrow.
Essential (first-party)
| Purpose | Storage | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| Remember “you dismissed this banner” / UI preferences | localStorage | Until you clear your browser storage |
These are set by our own domain and exist only to make the Site work the way you expect. They don’t track you between sites.
Analytics (first-party: Umami)
We use Umami, a privacy-friendly analytics tool we self-host and serve first-party from our own domain (via /stats). Umami is cookieless — it sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device for analytics.
It records only aggregate, anonymized usage — page views, referring site, approximate country, device type, and which outbound/affiliate links are clicked — with no cross-site tracking and no personal identifiers. Because it sets no cookies and collects no personal data, no analytics consent banner is required, and there is no analytics cookie for you to clear.
Security / performance (third-party: Cloudflare)
| Cookie | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
__cf_bm | Cloudflare bot management — tells human traffic from automated bots at the edge | 30 minutes |
_cfuvid | Cloudflare session identifier used for rate-limiting | Session (deleted on tab close) |
These are set by our hosting provider to protect the Site from abuse. They do not track you across sites. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
Affiliate attribution (third-party: merchant sites)
When you click an outbound product link, the destination retailer’s site may set its own cookie so any resulting purchase is credited back to the referring site. These cookies are set on the merchant’s domain, not ours. We don’t read them and we don’t control them. See the privacy policy of whichever retailer you land on for details on how they track affiliate clicks.
What We Don’t Use
- ❌ Advertising / retargeting cookies (Facebook Pixel, Google Ads remarketing, etc.)
- ❌ Cross-site tracking pixels
- ❌ Session replay or heatmap tools
- ❌ Social media “like” / “share” buttons that embed third-party trackers
If this ever changes, this page will be updated and the “Last updated” date will reflect the change.
Managing Your Preferences
Browser controls
Every modern browser lets you:
- Block all cookies — the Site will still render, but analytics won’t count your visit
- Block third-party cookies — disables the Cloudflare bot-management cookies without affecting the Site’s core function (our Umami analytics is cookieless and unaffected)
- Delete cookies on exit — clears state at the end of each session
Quick-links to the relevant settings pages:
Opt out of analytics specifically
Our analytics (Umami) is cookieless and stores no personal identifiers, so there is nothing to clear. If you’d still prefer not to be counted, send a “Do Not Track” browser signal or use any tracker-blocking extension to block the /stats script.
Do Not Track / Global Privacy Control
We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal: if your browser sends Sec-GPC: 1, we treat that as an opt-out of any non-essential data sharing. We don’t sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising today, so the practical effect is the same either way.
Changes to This Policy
If we add, remove, or change a cookie, this page is updated and the “Last updated” date at the top reflects the change. No other notice is required.
